My Spring Bucket List

I have seen this all over pinterest during the holidays and now I LOVE doing them. It gives each season a quick to do list. We also do things that we wouldn't normally do or haven't done before. I have done a holiday challenge with another blogger. My first one was a Fall Bucket List. Now that we are in a new city we have so much to do and see. I love spring (it's my favorite season) so I am so excited to make this list.

1. Baseball Game: Major and Minor. The minor should be easy since he works for a minor league team.

2. Farmers Market: We also have a Capitol Market that has some really cool shops. I can't wait to check them out.

3. Wash Car: With all this winter weather our little car needs a good detail.

4. Reading: I have so many books in my wishlist and my favorites. I have read a lot of books recently that I need to share with you.

5. Spring Cleaning: We are settled into our new place so we don't have to much to clean or declutter. We also need 2 interns coming to live with us this summer so we need to make sure that we have a clean space for them.

6. Putt Putt: It has been a since we have went out.

7. Batting Cages: Again like putt-putt it has been awhile. I think it will be fun and a stress reliever.

8. Crafts: We have white walls and they need to be decorated. I also want to make a spring door hanger as well.

9. Running/Walking: I am linking up with Kym and Erin to get in shape. I started off awesome then this move derailed me.

April - June Goals

Seriously I can't believe that it is April already. Where did the first 3 months ago. I feel like life is slowly starting to get back to normal. I am finally having some consistently with work. No more training or orientation. I can't wait for our finances to get back to normal and get our savings up again.

This move really took a lot out of me. I need to readjust and focus on whats really important. At the beginning of the year I decided that I would go with one word instead of a bunch of resolutions that I won't remember anyway. I decided that I wanted things to be BETTER than previous years.

Things that I want to focus on the next 3 months would be:

Faith:
Spend at least 30 minutes a day reading the Bible
Pray with Gary at least 1 a day
Find a church family and small group

Fitness:
Be at ideal weight.
Be able to do the splits
Do Blogilates everyday!!

Myself:
Just feel better about myself. This is kinda vague, but I just have been going through a lot and feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. I just want to get back to the comfortable and constant feeling that I once felt in Phoenix.

What are your goals for April?

Opening Day should be National Holiday

We all know that I love college football the most, but MLB is a strong second. My husband on the other hand LOVES baseball. It should be a national holiday. Now I (the hubs) will take over on this!

My favorite sport is baseball! I love MLB, Minor League Baseball and college baseball. College football is a strong second. The wifey poo is opposite of me on this, as previously stated. Opening day should be a national holiday. There was a petition signed to take this to congress. The first signature was by hall of famer, Ozzie Smith. Although I'm not a Cardinals fan, I respect Ozzie, the wizard of Oz, Smith! It has gone to the house and hopefully it will get passed. This now brings me to the next point....OPENING DAY!

Opening day for the MLB is tomorrow. This is truly better than Christmas morning! People will skip work, play hooky and kids will be pulled out of school for this glorious day! Jessa and I experienced our first opening day last year while we were in Phoenix. We saw the Diamondbacks and Cardinals! Opening day was everything I could expect and I wish that we could play hooky and go to another this year! BTW the D-Backs won that game! I love opening day because it is the start of a new season, every teams ace pitcher pitches against each other and everyone, no matter who you root for, is still thinking their team has a chance to hoist the World Series Trophy in October. My Brew Crew included! Opening day is special because you get to see new rookies who earned their spot on a team and in some cases the last hoo-rah of some great players. Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees and Paul Konerko of the Chicago White Sox will have this last hoo-rah this year. Both of them are sure fire hall of famers. I forgot to mention that opening day is the first time that you can have that hot dog made fresh from a grill and have that beer that you have longed to drink since October ended! So play hooky, call in sick and take the kids to the ballpark to watch the greatest game, America's past time in person! Get ready for all 162 games and the dog days of summer!

BASEBALL IS BACK! CHRISTMAS FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS! Hubs out!

Dear Hubby

Dear Gary,

I owe you an apology. I have been a jerk (that's putting it nicely) lately with everything. I blame it on the move, but I think you deserve more of an explanation than that. I am just wanting our life to get back to normal. I want our house to be home and put together like it was in Phoenix. I want our savings account to be like it once was. I don't know why I am so consumed with making everything go back to normal.
Gary and Jessa Olson. Life of A Sports Wife. Gary.

I'm sorry for not talking to you about this. I feel bad that I have put everything on my shoulders and not sharing with you. I just wanted you to only focus on your job. I didn't want you to worry about anything at home. I'm sorry for be more of a loving wife that you deserve. I have been distant and cold. I want you to know that I love you so much. I am so proud of everything that you have accomplished and what you are going to accomplish moving forward. I can't wait to see where it goes, and being on this journey with you.

Jessa and Gary Olson. Life of A Sports Wife

This upcoming month (coincidentally our anniversary month) I have goals to be a better wife to you. I want to make you a priority right after our relationship with God. I feel horrible that this falls on our anniversary month, because I should be a great wife every month. and every day.

thank you so much for everything you do for me. and Heisman.

Thank you for letting me be crazy and have my meltdowns during the move. You just let me yell and scream and cry. You just listened and held me. I appreciate it so much.

Thank you so much for giving me the life. Even though I always say you spoil me because you do but I do appreciate it. Just like our first Royals game.

Thank you for being in charge of the finances.

Thank you for saying that I am beautiful everyday. Even if I am wearing sweats and a hoodie AND not matching!

I could literally go on and on but thank you so much!!

I love you so much!!

Online Bible Study

A few weeks ago I started a online bible study with Britany from Happy is A Choice. (Which I am loving her blog right now.) I got paired with another blogger Jessica from Jessica J. Marie. We have been texting and tweeting back and forth. Life has definitely gotten the best of us during the study. We have even talked about doing Wife After God in April with Unveiled Wife.  (Think I could add any more links in this paragraph.)

We've been reading through the book The Modern Girl's Guide to Bible Study by Jen Hatmaker. Which I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started reading it. I got into the book early on, but have been slacking lately. I need to spend some time reading. Luckily for me baseball starts in 3 weeks so maybe I can keep more reading in.

I'm not really sure what I was expecting out of the book either. I know that it has been a while since I have opened my bible. It doesn't help matters that the USPS lost a package that had all our books in which included our family bible and both of our bibles. I still get on Youversion and read the bible plans. I am the queen at starting them and not finishing. I know that I need something to write with questions that push me.

I love her book and how she writes what works for her and how it can help us. I just need to find something that works for me and go with it.

How do you read the bible?

10 Things I Like About Myself

I have seen this floating around the blog world lately, and thought I NEED TO DO THIS!! Yes, that needed to be in all caps if you are wondering! I have been kinda hard on myself lately during this move. We have been here a month and I thought that we would be more back to normal than we are. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations about this but I am ready for life and things to be back in sync.

I just got back from training so I think my work life will be normal which will make the financial aspect be better. Which will just be a domino effect on the rest of my life.

10 Things I Like About Myself

1. My blue eyes: I have really pretty blue eyes. They also a turn a different shade of blue when I cry too. Think ocean blue.

2. I'm organized: I have really good organization skills. Everyone also compliments me on how organized I am.

3. Work Ethic: I have the midwest work ethic.

4. Good Listener: I enjoy listening to people. If they want my help I would love to give it, but if they need someone to vent to I'm there too.

5. Trusted: I had a heart to heart with someone here in West Virginia. They told me a lot of information. Towards the end they asked me not to tell anyone what we talked about. I told them I wouldn't because I am not one to be spreading other peoples dirty laundry. Plus working in the sports world you learn and hear a lot of things that isn't public knowledge.

6. Diverse: I have been in a lot of situations both really bad and good. I have learned something from each situation. As many have witnessed through this blog I can move and adjust pretty quickly.

7. Creative: This is from the peanut gallery (my husband) but I have to agree with him. I love being crafty and thinking outside the box. You will see more of this in the upcoming months.

8. Sports Knowledge: I know a lot about sports, and not just mainstream sports. I don't know about every sport out there, but I'm willing to learn.

9. Book worm: I love reading. I love learning. I can read cheesy self help books or get lost in a fiction book too. By the way, I am really behind on sharing with you some of the books that I have been reading. I can't wait to share them with you. Also What books are you reading right now? (Like I need to add to my wish list, but oh well. Baseball season is right around the corner.)

10. Giver: I love giving to people without expecting something in return. I love to make crafts to just give to people. I also do little random acts of kindness from time to time.

Hello Charleston, West Virginia

We are finally adjusting to Charleston and West Virginia. Gary and I had a productive weekend. (I think our last weekend as a couple before he leaves for the WV Power.) We went to look for new furniture for our place. Our goal was to get prices for a sofa. When I got back from training I found out that we are having another intern move in with us. That's right ladies and gentleman I am being overruled in the house with 4 boys (Heisman included). We are having 2 male interns live with us this summer. To be honest, I'm not worried because I probably will never see them except to sleep.

I have never been to the East Coast. I have often referred to the EC as the wrong coast. I love Cali and nice weather. So this is going to be a new experience. I'm slowly starting to like living on the East Coast to be honest. The hardest thing is now staying up for games on the West Coast.

In Charleston we hope to be here for more than a few years. We want this to be a place where we put down some roots. Also we should be here for a while because he is know a manager. A few weeks ago I wrote a post saying bye to everything Phoenix so we thought that we would write a letter to our new city.

When we got in we knew this was going to be different than all the other places we have lived minus Topeka, Kansas. Our first weekend here was one that we won't ever forget. At lunch we made new friends (people sitting at the bar eavesdropping on our conversation) that helped us with more places to look. (That is one thing that we weren't use to is people just talking to us and helping us.) We also saw a girl having a heart attack while we were looking for a place to rent.

We are looking forward to being outdoors more. Gary wants to go camping and more outdoorsy stuff. (This sounds be interesting considering I have never been camping.)

New friends. We want to be here a while. I found a local blogger that I have been following for a while. We didn't realize it until I transferred my Junior League membership. I am so excited to meet some JL and DZ girls soon. With baseball season right around the corner. I am about to become a baseball widow.

Travel. We want to experience everything around us. Within 6 hours are some big cities that I can't wait to go visit. And some other bloggers that I have been talking to recently. Plus reconnect with my first blate with Rachel from Postcards with Rachel. (love this girl.)

Closer to Family. Yes. We may be in West Virginia but considering where we were it's closer to family. We are a days drive from both sets of family. Since baseball season ends in September we may be able to go home for the holidays. (But we have decided that we will go visit a family for one holiday, but we will stay home for at least 1 holiday a year.)

Sorry for the wordiness of this blog. I can't wait to see Charleston and introduce to our new life.

The first play-in game is March 18th so I’m thinking we allow entries until tipoff! Oh and I was also thinking, just to make it way easier and give everyone more time.... We include the links and login information for the CBS bracket in tomorrow's post so they can go fill out their brackets ASAP. These stupid play in games are messing everything up. I didn't realize there was such little time before the first game! So I made the CBS league. The info is: GROUP NAME: Bracks On Bracks On Bracks Password: onbracks (all lowercase) URL: http://onbracks.mayhem.cbssports.com/e?ttag=BPM14_paste_cbsinv Then if it is cool with you, they can just send their $5 to me. I will be sure to collect money from everyone who has a bracket, otherwise I’ll delete their bracket! Easy peasy. So to enter our March Madness Bracket Competition all they have to do is: Step 1: Add their Link, just like they would for any linkup Step 2: Send $5 via paypal (as a gift) to [email protected] Step 3: Visit (http://onbracks.mayhem.cbssports.com/e?ttag=BPM14_paste_cbsinv) Step 4: Enter the “Pool Password” which is: onbracks (all lowercase) Step 5: fill out bracket Here is the in-linkz script. What do you think, did I miss anything? Or is anything confusing at all?

Blog Love

Like the word favorite I over use the word love. I love reading blogs and commenting on them. My new favorite thing is blogger happy hours. I have met some amazing bloggers through this as well. The reason I started blogging was to meet women all over the world because we can't seem to stay in the same place for more than 2 years.

I'm also getting sick of bloggers being mean to each other. There is no reason for us to be mean to each other. We should be lifting each other up and encouraging each other in our blogs.

Here are some bloggers that I just love:

Madi from And So I Did: Like every other blogger I know she just got a new house! (Not jealous at all but making an observation that everyone is getting a house these days) I love all of her home decorating posts.

Margaret from Life After Athens: I don't remember how I met this lady but I am so glad that I did. She has been amazing during the move. We are planning a blogger meet up this summer. I seriously can't wait until she gets settled in her new place.

Rebekah from Living Lavender: She is my DIY twin. That's really all I can say.

Casey from The Aslan's Auspicious Albany Adventure: She is the epitome of the reason behind the post. She has a weekly post called Cheers Not Jeers where she highlights different bloggers. She does it without expecting anything in return. I love this about her. I am so glad that I "met" her a few weeks ago.

What bloggers do you love?

It's Just a Pen said No Girl Ever

I love my planner. I love to be organized. When I write in my planner I use a different color pen to keep my life organized. Last year I had 1 planner for my blog, 1 for personal and 1 for my shop, but this year I really wanted to simplify my life. So I went to 1 planner for everything. I don't know about you, but when I look at a planner and see everything in black ink I get anxiety. So each group/organization is a different color.

I also have tons of to-do list around the house. I love still writing everything down and crossing it off.
Here are some of my favorite pens:

1. Le Pen: Crystal from Crystal Faye got me hooked on these pens. I love all the different colors so I don't have to reuse the pens for different organizations. Plus if I wanted to write in a different color for work I have tons of options. The only con with these pens is that you have to go to craft stores for these pens if you want to go local. I had to go to 3 different Hobby Lobby's to find them.
{source}
2. Staedtler: My favorite thing about these pens is instead of being circular like most pens they have 3 sides. Again a variety of colors. They have more colors than options, but these are pens are available most anywhere. Le Pen is at crafts stores.
{source}

3. Sharpie: These are the pens that I would write in high school. I LOVED Sharpies. The best thing is they have a sharpie for every event. The ultra fine for everyday writing or Magnum for moving and shipping. They have a variety of colors as well. The only con is that the ink bleeds through the paper if you press down too hard, and I write super heavy!
{Source}
4. Infinity: These are my new favorite pens again thanks to Crystal. These are the pens that I use and have everyday at work. The guys have starting to love these pens too which I think he is hilarious.

What are your favorite pens?
