Running For Hope

Lately I haven't been feeling like I wanted to blog. I just haven't had the motivation to write. I have tons of ideas and things that I want to blog about. I know with everything that has gone on this week it is a good time for reflection on our lives.

I wanted to stick with my Fitness Friday. Today I have the wonderful Kait from Fierce, Fabulous, and Fit. I absolutely love her blog because she blogs about fitness and life in general. A girl after my heart.

In light of recent events that took place on Monday, I knew I wanted to do something inspirational. Something that would motivate me to know that I was going to do something to help those that were hurt, injured or even had died at the Boston Marathon

Granted, I am not very athletic. Sure I played my fair share of soccer when I was a kid but then quit after 2 years because I couldn't keep up with the other 8 year old who were much faster then me.

High-School was ridiculous for me since I had to run the mile each year. I'm pretty sure I walked at least 2/3 of it.

I never was able to go on 'casual 3 mile runs' with my college roommate because I knew I'd be winded after .3 of a mile.

After several tweets of what you could do to help those who were hurt, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I was going to run 2.62 miles.

And so I did. I grunted. My legs burned. I had the worst side cramp of my life. But I did it. And I did it for those who ran the 26.2 Marathon in Boston. I did it for my family members who live in Boston. I did it for myself. And although it may not be a huge deal for those of you who run that in about 5 minutes...it was huge for me.
I became a runner for them.
