I chose Iowa because that is where I was born and raised. I am very lucky to call 2 places "home." One of them is Iowa and the other is Arkansas. The quick version of the story is I was born in Iowa but in 4th grade we moved to Arkansas. I stayed in Arkansas until my sophomore year of college. I moved back to Iowa.
Since I have lived in Oklahoma, I have gotten a gamut of responses to being from Iowa. Some people are really cool about and say a place that they have visited or know family in Iowa. Others have been like OMG Iowa is one of the worst places ever.
I think each place can have their pros and cons. It is what you make of it. Any place can be boring if all you do is work and wish you were someplace else. Me on the other hand, I LOVE being from Iowa. There is some much you can do and Iowa has a great history.
One of my absolute favorite places in Iowa is the Bridges of Madison County. I need to make a trip back soon but I absolutely love that place. I especially love going to the diner in the movie and sitting where Clint Eastwood sat in the movie. LOVE IT.
A place I would love to go to is the Field of Dreams. I know. I know. You're probably thinking how have I lived in Iowa and not been there. My answer to you is I don't know either. Next trip to Iowa I am hoping that hubbie and I can make it up there.
I also love most of the sports teams in Iowa. I love the Iowa Cubs, Iowa Energy, Iowa Barnstormers, Iowa State Cyclones, Drake Bulldogs, UNI Panthers and all the minor league baseball teams. I don't like the Iowa Hawkeyes, but I love all my friends who are Hawk fans.
If you ever make a trip to Iowa let me know and I'll give you a few places to check out.
I would love to have veered down to Iowa to see the Field of Dreams too, on the way east last summer, but we didn't have time. I've only ever lived on the coasts, east and west.
