Yarn. Yarn. Yarn. AND more Yarn. As y'all learned a few weeks ago, I just started knitting. My aunts have been knitting for a while, and I thought they were crazy. After awhile and I matured a little bit (haha), I decided that I wanted to learn to knit.
Both of my aunts told me to get on youtube and they have plenty of videos. So I do. It wasn't easy at first, AND I almost quit. It wasn't very relaxing at all. Knitting a row or two then ripping it all out b/c it wasn't right or I didn't like was taking a toll on me. I eventually got the hang out it.
Now on to the yarn! After I figured out how to knit and made a few scarfs, my aunts started sending me yarn. I am not complaining at all but lets just say I can open my own yarn store...kinda.) I have yarn of all sorts of colors and textures. My aunts say its good to practice all yarns. That's the only way you figure out if you like that type of yarn or not. I guess there is some truth in that. I just think they like shopping for yarn. :)
Hopefully, I can find time in the future to go knit and hang out with friends. I will post pictures as I finish some projects.
My friends who have taken up knitting all love it too. I've never tried it as it looks too difficult!
ReplyDeleteHi Jessa, visiting A - Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteMy daughters and I have been crocheting this winter. I made some cotton dishcloths. I wanted to do socks but I couldn't figure some stitches out (even with youtube) so .... next winter!
Never could get the hang of knitting but someday I'll try again.

Well done! knitting is awesome! learnt on YouTube too. I cant do much besides the basics but and I make a lot up along the way but it works somehow!
ReplyDeleteHey there, I am taking a last minute jog through A to Z blogging and had to stop and comment. A few years ago, a few months before Christmas, I decided to teach myself to knit too. I also learned via U Tube and the Lion Brand site. I bought big needles and chunky yarn and knitted about 6 scarves for X mas presents. And in return, everyone and their mother seemed to buy me yarn for X mas. After all them scarves, I never picked up the yarn or needles again. Hope you do better with it than I did. ;)

I have never even tried to knit. I would love to learn, but I feel I need someone to show me. I am a crafter by nature; only a matter of time I suppose. I always forget about you tube, hmmmm.
ReplyDeletewait'll the knitting bug really gets you, then you'll enjoy buying yarn too! :) thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the comments! I don't think I have ever had this many before. New to blogging and appreciate your time to read my blog.
ReplyDeleteHope you come back after a-z is finished.
Jessa
Thank you for visiting my blog as I might not have ever found you! Fantastic blog, love all of the great posts :)
ReplyDeleteI never tried knitting, but I do attempt to crochet every now and again as my mom is a "professional" at it. It's actually quite funny to see both of us crocheting as she is speeding through it & it looks great - Me, on the other hand . . well, I'm painfully slow & it looks just awful!
Anyway, good luck with the knitting - Creating is so much fun that I don't know why everyone doesn't do it!
Happiness,
Corrinne
